Tell us first
about the
Spiritist Week
of Barretos, a
traditional
event in the
city. When did
it begin?
We will have
this year, in
2016, the 55th
edition of the
event. The first
edition took
place in 1948,
according to the
information we
have.
Does it gather
all Spiritist
Centres in the
city?
It gathers all
Spiritist
Centres
affiliated to
the official
regional body,
the Union of
Spiritist
Societies (USE).
It takes place
in two parts.
From July 3rd
to 9th,
it happens in
Barretos. In
the second week,
from 11th
to 15th,
of July, it is
hosted by the
cities of Colina,
Guaíra and
Jaborandi. It
must be
highlighted the
presence of non-Spiritists
to the event. A
number of
Spiritist
speakers will
give talks at
the event, which
will not have a
main theme. Each
speaker will be
free to choose a
subject.
Tell us a bit
more about the
Children’s
Home.
The Children’s
Home is my
passion. It is
an organisation
that carries out
an amazing jog
in the formation
of human beings,
contributing
towards a
fairer, a more
fraternal and
solidary
society. It was
founded on June
1st
1947 and it has
now eight
programmes for
children and
parents.
What about the
shop the
Children’s Home
has for pregnant
women?
Cantinho do Bebê
(Baby’s Little
Corner) is a
shop that
provides all
pregnant women
and babies need,
including
clothes, nappies
and decoration.
The currency we
use in the shop
is the
“Home-Bonus,”
which the
mother-to-be
gets through her
participation
and that of the
father in the
activities and
courses offered
by the
organisation. At
the end of the
16-month course
she uses the
Home-Bonuses
earned to get
items in the
shop.
Is there
anything you
would like to
add?
I would like to
highlight the
importance of
events that
promote
Spiritism in its
triple aspect
(religious,
philosophical
and scientific)
and that
underline the
importance of
the role those
ahead of
Spiritist
organisations
must play in
preserving the
integrity of the
Teachings. We
must help make
people aware of
the importance
of putting the
Gospel of Jesus
into practice
and the
importance
Spiritism has in
the moral
transformation
of humankind.
Finally, I would
like to invite
those who can to
attend the 55th
Spiritist Week
of Barretos and
to get to know
more about the
work of the
Children’s Home.
And let us hope
that we,
Spiritists, may
lead by example
and make the
difference in
our society
through work,
solidarity and
tolerance, as
Allan Kardec
taught us.
