Theme: Law of Action and Reaction
The Dove and the Ant
|
A mighty river of clear water ran through the
forest. There was an ant on top of a
|
leaf, on the riverbank. |
She was thirsty and leaned over to drink water but lost
her balance and fell into the river.
The little ant was carried away by the current and could
no longer return to dry land. Scared, she asked:
- God help me!
In the sky, a flying dove saw the ant and noticed that
she was struggling. The dove showed solidarity with the
insect and threw a small branch into the water, close to
the ant, that soon climbed onto the branch and managed
to return to shore safely.
On dry land, recovering from tiredness and fright, the
ant looked up at the sky and in thought thanked God for
having saved her. She also addressed her gratitude to
the dove, who became God's instrument to help her.
Time passed and one day, when the ant was cutting leaves
from a bush in the forest, a hunter approached, about to
hunt a dove, with a net.
Feeling her heart touched and wanting to help that bird
in trouble, the ant wasted no time and stung the hunter
hard.
The sting made the man scream, and the dove, realizing
his presence, flew away, saving himself from danger.
After it the ant fell to the ground, and ran to hide.
She just heard the flapping of the dove's wings and was
very happy that she was able to help him.
She didn't know it, but she had just helped the baby of
the dove that had saved her. The dove, when helping the
ant, also didn't know that that little creature would
save her son one day.
The dove and the ant did nothing out of self-interest,
they just accepted being God's instruments to help
others.
But, if they knew nothing, God knew everything and
repaid them with blessings of happiness and life. This
is how our Creator Father acts. By doing good we receive
good.
Happy are those who become instruments of God.
