In a 6-day visit to Africa,
the continent with the
largest number of people
infected with Aids in the
world, the Pope Benedict
XVI, as expected, reinforced
the Church’s position
against the use of
preservatives. Aids, said
the Pope, “cannot be
defeated with the
distribution of
preservatives”. This is not
the first time that the
sexual abstinence proposal
appears on the declarations
of the Church leadership, as
shown in this week editorial
entitled “Sexual abstinence
and Aids”.
This Wednesday 8th, the
confrere Sebastião Paiva,
also tenderly known as “Seo
Paiva”, will turn 100 years
old of a prosperous
existence. He has been a
shelter to others in the
city of Bauru, São Paulo,
and as a Spiritist since his
youth, he has practiced with
excellence during his life
the maxim coined by Allan
Kardec: “Outside the Charity
there is no salvation”. In
the interview conceded to
the Editor Wellington Balbo,
which is the main headline
in this edition, the great
Charity missioner ask us to
remember that the physical
existence is ephemeral and
hence we need to live
without exaggerations or
much attachment to the
matter, and always working
for our neighbors.
Another headline this week
is the special article
entitled “The magnetic
healing and its
limitations”, which analyses
the four main reasons that
limit the healing fluidic
action and clarifies why the
magnetic healing does not
always reach the same
outcome for similar cases.
The USI, Unione Spiritica
Italiana, with the
collaboration of many
Italian groups, has promoted
the Seminar “Reincarnation
and Christianism” last
Sunday 29th March, which was
presented by the confrere
Humberto Werdine, from
Vienna, as shown in the
report by Claudia Werdine,
another headline in this
edition.

A few days ago, one of our
readers got fascinated with
the search tool available on
this website. Since many
readers are not familiarized
with the subject, some
explanations might be
helpful. On the top of the
homepage (initial page),
there is a typical Internet
tool labeled “Buscar”. Right
below it, there are two
options: “Web” and “Busca no
site”. After selecting the
second option, just fill out
the blank field with the
word wanted. Let’s say we
want to find out about
“suicide”. Then the site
will indicate the pages
where the word entered is
cited, regardless if it is
in the week editions, the
magazine reports, the
newspaper O Imortal
or in the Estudos
Espíritas.
