O Consolador:
How did this
idea first came
to place?
André Ferreira
was the one who
came up with
this idea. He is
a member of the
centre Grêmio
Espírita Atualpa
Barbosa Lima.
André wanted us
to implement a
simple way to
communicate with
young people. He
then suggested
starting a
website in order
to save costs as
well. That’s how
Jizel
started.
O Consolador:
Is there a lot
of interest on
the site?
I believe we are
just starting.
The feedback has
been quite
interesting
since it has
been going
around for three
months only but
we had almost
two thousand
accesses. We
once had a 78
daily access.
When we launched
it, I sent the
address to my
e-mail list and
from Orkut,
which lead to a
lot of curiosity
around it. We
had some week
days, with only
5 or 6 visits
but we had
people visiting
the site
everyday. We
always receive
some comments on
the site, but it
is hard to find
young people on
it.
O Consolador: Is
the blog
accessed
throughout
Brazil? Have you
noticed access
in other
countries as
well?
Yes, we have
noticed access
throughout
Brazil.
O Consolador:
How do you think
virtual
communication
helped to
disclose
Spiritism
amongst young
people?
This is not
happening just
now, but we are
working towards
it. We try to
include daily
news with a
spiritist view
on the site. We
always look for
feedback from
teenagers on the
blog. We have
identified that
young people
from older
groups are
reading more and
more from the
site.
O Consolador: Do
you think there
has been an
expansion on
spiritist art
through this
form of
communication?
No, not directly
I don’t think.
O Consolador: Is
it noticed that
non-spiritists
users search for
information on
the site?
There was one
occasion where
one non-spiritist
user searched
for information
on respect to
one another and
related to
nature. This
individual also
added us into
the blog she was
working on.
There was
another person
who commented on
spiritist
productions,
when we posted
news on the
movie that is
being currently
filmed about
Chico Xavier’s
life.
O Consolador:
Can you please
give us the site
address and
contact details?
The blog can be
accessed by
clicking on:
www.jizel.wordpress.com.
Messages and
ideas/collaborations
can be sent to:
paulotarsolyra@uol.com.br.
O Consolador:
How often do you
update and
maintain the
site?
We don’t
specifically
have an agreed
schedule for the
updates on the
blog. We try to
post, at least,
three times a
week. We also
have a weekly
phrase for
reflection,
which is
published every
Sunday.
O Consolador:
What are the
criteria used to
decide what type
of information
should be
published on the
blog?
Everything we
find interesting
we usually send
to the group
e-mail to be
analysed. If the
majority
approves the
material sent,
it goes live on
the blog. Once
we decided to
remove some
information from
the site since
the group
decided it was
the best for the
blog. The rule
adopted is that
all material
needs to be
connected to
Spiritism; in a
doctrinal or
philosophical
way. We once
decided to post
some information
related to
Fundação por Uma
Vida Melhor
which talked
about integrity.
This is not
related to
religious, but
is related to
philosophy and
respect to one
another.
O Consolador:
Can you please
give us your
final words?
Written or
spoken words
have a
fundamental role
on the
disclosure of
the Doctrine. We
know internet
can be used on
several ways,
due to its speed
as it can
improve the
exposure of
information.
Let’s learn to
use it for noble
purposes. Blogs
and sites can
bring us closer
to teenagers,
due to the
language used.
They are the
present and the
future of the
spiritist
movement. |
