Text for reading

23. Can the deamon open the eyes of the blind? - After explaining the parable of the Good Shepherd, the Master said: "I have other sheep not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice, and there will be one flock and one shepherd. For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down my life only to take it. No man taketh it from me, but I give of myself to have power to give, and power to make take it. This commandment I received from my Father. " Because of these new words division was among the Jews, and many of them said: "He hath a devil and is mad; why you hear?" Others said, "These words are not possessed. It may, perhaps, a demon open the eyes of the blind "(John 10:16 to 10:21.)

24. I and the Father are one, he assured the Christ - Having said clearly, outside the temple, is actually the Christ, the Master asserted, referring to the sheep that the Father has entrusted to him: "My Father, which gave them me, is greater everyone, and no one can snatch them from the hand of my Father I and the Father are one. " The Jews, outraged at what seemed to them the supreme blasphemy, took up stones again to stone him. Jesus then asked, "I have shown you many good works of my Father: for which of those works do ye stone me?" The Jews replied, "Do not stoning you for a good work but for blasphemy, because you, man, make yourself to be God. " Jesus answered them: "Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? For if he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came (and scripture can not be broken), to whom the Father consecrated and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest, because I said I am the Son of God? If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, and do not believe me, believe the works: that ye may know and believe that the Father is in me and I in him. " Although they heard this, the Jews tried to arrest him again, but he escaped and retired beyond the Jordan to the place where John the Baptist had baptized first, and stayed there. And many came to him and said: "Actually John did no sign, but everything that John said this was true." And many believed in him. (John 10:29 to 10:42.)

25. If someone walks by day, do not trip - Since Jesus had decided, because of the sickness of Lazarus, come back to Judea, the disciples argued: "Rabbi, the Jews of late sought to stone thee, and goest thou thither again?" Jesus answered them: "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If someone walks by day, does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world, but if riding at night, he stumbles, because there is no light. " Then, referring to the brother of Martha and Mary who was sick, he said, "Lazarus, our friend sleeps, but I'll wake it from sleep." Like the disciples did not understand exactly what Jesus spoke, he told them very clearly, "Lazarus is dead, and rejoice, for your sake, that I was not there, that believe it but we will have with him." Getting to Bethany, which was distant nearly fifteen furlongs from Jerusalem, Jesus knew that Lazarus was in the grave for four days and many Jews had come to comfort Martha and Mary, about his brother. (John 11:7 to 11:19.)

Answers to questions

1. Containing the parable of the Good Shepherd?

According to the parable, who does not enter through the door into the sheepfold, but climbs over elsewhere is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. And when he brings out his sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. But by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him because they know not the voice of strangers. Like the disciples did not understand the parable, Jesus said, Verily, verily I say I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear. I am the door if anyone enters through me will be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy: I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. But the hireling, and not the shepherd, whom the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches and scatters the sheep. The hireling flees because he is an hireling, and not take care of the sheep. I am the good shepherd and know my sheep and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one flock, one shepherd. (John 10:1 to 10:16.)

2. What is the meaning of this sentence: There will be one flock and one shepherd?

The phrase can be understood as a complement to the prophetic sermon in which Jesus says that when the end comes, the Gospel of the kingdom will be taught everywhere. There will be one flock, that is, a huge flock made up of people who will think together in harmony and feelings of vibrations, with the guide whom God has appointed as guide and model of humanity, Jesus of Nazareth. (John 10:14 to 10:16.)

3. Being the Master walking in the temple in Solomon's porch, the Jews asked him if he was indeed the Christ. What was Jesus' response?

They surrounded him and asked. "How long will you hold us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly. "Jesus answered them: "I have spoken unto you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name, these testify of me. But ye believe not because ye are not of my sheep, as I have said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all, no one can snatch them from the hand of my Father. "(John 10:22 to 10:29.)

4. How did the resurrection of Lazarus?

When Jesus came to Bethany, Lazarus had been four days that was in the grave, and many Jews had come to comfort Martha and Mary, about his brother. Martha went to meet him and said, "Lord, if thou wert here, my brother had not died. But we also now know that whatever you ask of God, God will give thee. "Jesus said to him: "Your brother will rise again. " She replied: "I know I shall rise again in the resurrection on the last day. " Jesus said to him: "I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he die, shall live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Do you believe this? "She said, " Yes, Lord, I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world. "Then came to where Jesus was Mary, and saw him, fell at his feet, saying: "Lord, if thou wert here, my brother had not died. " Jesus, when he saw her crying, he was troubled, but asked: "Where have you laid him?" They said: "Lord, come and see. " Jesus went to the tomb, which was a cave and a stone lay upon it. Jesus said to them: "Take away the stone. " They pulled out, then the stone where the dead lay. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, said: "Father, I thank thee, thou hast heard me. I know that you always hear me, but I said this because the people who stand around, to believe that you sent me. "And having said that he cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth. " And Lazarus came forth, his hands and feet bound with bandages, his face wrapped in a handkerchief. Jesus said to them: "Loose him and let him go. " (John 11:1 to 11:6 and 11:17 to 11:44.)

5. The resurrection of Lazarus provoked some reaction from the priests?

Yes. After the resurrection, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and argued that measures should be taken. They then commanded that if anyone knew where he was denouncing, to take him. It was then, from that time, ordered the death of Christ. (John 11:45 to 11:57.)
