Events in
Santa Maria still
reverberate
This week’s editorial, "Reflections
on the fire in Santa Maria,"
examines the repercussions
in the press and in the
spiritist midst of the
unfortunate episodes that
occurred in that city in Rio
Grande do Sul which has
recorded, so far, 235
deaths.
One of the highlights of
this edition is an interview
given by the writer and
lecturer Vanessa Anseloni to
our collaborator Guaraci de
Lima Silveira. Spiritist
since the cradle, Vanessa
has a degree in Psychology
from the University of São
Paulo, where she also
completed her Ph.D. in
Neuroscience. In 1998 she
moved to the United States
to complete her postdoctoral
studies at the University of
Maryland and has since
worked as a neuroscientist
at the University of
Maryland. In the interview,
she tells us about the
Spiritist movement in the
United States and the work
being done by the Spiritist
Society of Baltimore, of
which she is founder and
president.
Another highlight of this
issue is the special article
by Paulo da Silva Neto
Sobrinho titled "After
all, does God forgive?".
The article is divided into
two parts, and its
conclusion will be published
next week.
This past January 26th,
a branch of the Legal-Spiritist
Association of São Paulo was
founded in the city of
Tupã
(SP), whose coordinators are
the lawyer
Fábio Aguilar Conceição
and the teacher Michele
Ribeiro de Melo. The story
about the event is also one
of the highlights of this
edition.

On this date, February 10,
we record another
anniversary of the death, in
1979, of the colleague
Luiz di Cristóforo
Postiglioni,
one of the most prominent
figures in the history of
Spiritism in Argentina. A
brilliant lecturer,
Postiglioni was president of
the International Spiritist
Federation and also of the
Spiritist Confederation of
Argentina.
