Isabel Cristina Melo talks
about accessibility in the
Spiritist Centers
This week’s editorial, "The
salutary influence of
disease" reminds us that
pain, according to a known
phrase by Léon Denis, is the
law of balance and
education, essential to the
spirits who incarnate on a
planet like the Earth that
offers countless examples of
people facing pain in its
many forms.
Isabel Cristina Melo, based
in the Rio das Ostras-RJ, is
our interviewee this Sunday.
In the interview granted to
our collaborator Marcus
Braga, she tells us about
her extensive experience in
special education classes
and addresses the issue of
accessibility in the
Spiritist Centers and other
aspects relevant to
Inclusive Education as seen
in society in general. The
interview is one of the
highlights of this edition.
Another highlight is the
special entitled "Alzheimer
and Spiritism: some
considerations", authored by
Eugênia Pickina. Described
clinically as a primary
degenerative dementia, whose
main symptom is the
progressive loss of mental
functions, Alzheimer's
disease affects millions of
people worldwide.
The 62nd
Spiritist Week of Astolfo
Dutra was held on July
13-20, a city located in the
Zona da Mata of Minas Gerais,
as shown in a special report
which is also one of the
highlights of this edition.

On the day before yesterday
- July 26th - we
celebrated another
anniversary of the birth of
Luís Olímpio Teles de
Menezes, a native of
Salvador, Bahia, where he
was born in 1825. Founder of
Family Group of Spiritism,
Teles was the creator of the
first spiritist periodic of
Brazil, "The Echo from
Beyond the Grave", launched
by him in 1869.
