Science, philosophy and love
There are those who only call themselves doctors; there are those who take care of the physical body; there are those who make medicine a profitable business; there are those who see the patient as a burden or inferior being - poor hearts, have not yet understood nothing; There are those who, by means of medicine reached a privileged social position; there are good doctors and there are those who understand the greatness of the incoming opportunity and love life and his fellows. Of the latter, a well-known example: Adolfo Bezerra de Menezes.
It cannot be a good professional if the only interest is money, much less have a good heart if it is not able to recognize the pain of those who seek assistance.
Undoubtedly, it would not be possible to walk in the earthly atmosphere if there were not the noble spirits to strengthen us and been very close, notable examples for our day-by-day.
Dr. Bezerra de Menezes was for all of us when in physical body, not only blessed doctor, but eminent teacher on the most important lesson that Jesus left to us: "Love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:39).
Perhaps Bezerra de Menezes had made even more, he had loved his neighbor more than himself.
When the nobility of life is assimilated, it is natural that the goal is high and generous too. And when the heart believes that this thin branch, which is an existence, is linked to the course of a perfect and complete universe, created by God, irrelevant situations tend to dissipate, to cede place to kindness, understanding, charity, help, teaching, support, tenderness, generosity, meekness and hence to higher and nobler sentiment: love.
Dr. Bezerra de Menezes consolidated basis of his experience in three uplifting bastions: philosophy, science and charity.
As for the latter, we read in The Gospel According to Spiritism, chap. XV, the message that the Apostle Paul wrote with the title: "Without charity there is no salvation". And this teaching was followed accordingly by Bezerra de Menezes, who had assimilated the kind and essential qualities that characterize the noble spirits and, thus, could offer to countless people not only help for the physical body, but the blessed refuge for the soul.
Understanding that the Earth is school for our development and the spirits, students in this important step, whose need for care is too obvious, it is quite natural that anyone who has more to give just does so to companions with more accurately aid.
That was what this blessed brother did by a respectable existence, lived the simplicity of a loving heart and left to us a teaching legacy of how a Spirit can develop itself through the acquired knowledge and practicing, in an extraordinary way, charity towards our deprived brothers, either physically, either spiritually - the called needed of refuge of the soul, especially the needy of this remarkable food called love.
Dr. Bezerra de Menezes is the theme of the special that integrates this same issue and is one of its highlights.
