World Cup in Brazil: an unforgettable party

Of course it could have had more respect and seriousness in dealing with public affairs, and the costs - financial, social and human – being compatible with what, in fact, occurred in other countries in recent World Cups. But, after all, it cannot be ignored the importance and success of an event like the World Cup soccer that is now held in our country.

The contagious joy of the crowds that fill stadiums; setting among people from different nations who never have seen before; the warm welcome in which Europeans, Americans, Africans, Asians, Australians, Mexicans, Costa Ricans, Ecuadorians, Hondurans, Chileans, Uruguayans, Colombians and Argentines were received up; the diversity of colors and flags; parties twisted and above all, the absence of violence, something so common in national championships - all this makes it become unforgettable in the memories of the World Cup 2014.

Divaldo Franco in timely article published in the newspaper A Tarde, edition of June 19th, 2014, wrote:

“The Brazilian nationality is at an extraordinary significant moment: being known practically worldwide at where it is the best, besides the traditional comments about `happiness and parties, mulatto females, the samba and football’. The World Cup has provided to more than one billion and half of millions of people who have not known Brazil or learn some distorted news, others unfortunate, corruption, crime, disrespect of democratic rights, an phenomenon that happens in all countries, more in some than another; the occasion to present since the opening what we do best, considering to be the seventh economy in the world. There are governmental problems, shortage of schools and hospitals, unemployment and violence, without question but there is also millions of honored citizens, of noble young adults who compete at universities and technological institutions a place to stay, venerable elderly and genius children, scholars of human problems and  fighters who long for a happy society.”

He has complete justification the illustrious and esteemed colleague.

The sport, currently represented by football, meets once again the important role of harmony, reconciliation, fraternity, recognizably important values, especially now that our planet faces political, economic and social crises in almost all places.

The World Cup that has been watched has proved us that it is possible to cheer without a fight, play without offending, that it is possible to watch a football game without violence, with women and children present in the stadiums.

The world could also meet the friendly spirit of Brazilian people, who know how to welcome people and that is in its natural, a joyful, peaceful and orderly people, though, as we know, dissatisfied with the excesses, lack of seriousness and corruption which infest the administration and politics of our still young country.
