Roger comes from
a very good
family who is
really concerned
about his
education. He
lived in a
beautiful farm,
which wasn’t far
from the city.
There were lots
of animals
there.
His mother
realised he
didn’t like to
work. She then
decided to
orientate him
with kindness:
— My son, we
need to do
something useful
in life. God
didn’t give us
life for us to
be a burden in
the world.
Even with his
mother’s
advices, Roger
still ran away
from useful and
noble work. He
wouldn’t like to
do his homework,
study at home,
read, look after
his belongings,
help out at
home, etc.
One day, he
decided to run
away from home
because his
mother asking
him to vacuum
the house. He
went walking
through the
road,
complaining
about
everything. He
was very lazy
and after a
while decided to
sit down. He saw
a tree close to
the river.
That’s where he
sat down.
He then took a
deep breath and
said:
— Oh! I wish I
could be like
this river. It
doesn’t have to
do anything!
He then heard a
voice who said
back to him:
— You are
mistaken, my
boy. I work
quite a lot. I
transport water
careful so that
it benefits
plantations.
These
plantations are
used by the
humans for many
reasons. I also
provide water to
the birds and
other animals.
In addition to
that, fish are
found in the
water.
Roger felt
frightened. He
thought for a
while and looked
at the cow that
was eating close
to the river. He
then said:
— I wish I was
this cow. It
spends all day
here, without
doing anything.
The cow only
eats and
sleeps.
The animal heard
his words and
said:
— Moo... moos...
How can you say
that? I supply
the milk you
drink every
morning. Let
alone my sisters
who give their
lives to feed
human beings,
|
|
and
supply
you with
our
leather
for the
making
of bags,
shoes
and
clothes. |
He got very
disappointed
with the
animal’s
reaction. He
then looked
around to find
something or
someone who
didn’t do
absolutely
anything.
|
A tree, who kept
silent until
then, stepped in
and said:
— I also work. I
provide flowers
and leaves that
are food for
other beings. I
welcome birds,
small animals
and insects into
my branches. I
also welcome
anyone who needs
to rest at my
shadow. You, for
example!
|
A sheep decided
to get closer
and take part on
the
conversation. It
talked about its
task of
providing wool.
A chicken came
closer and
talked about the
eggs produced,
and even a
spider said it
had a task:
— If it wasn’t
for me, your
life would have
been impossible!
I eat flies and
little insects
that are around
in
|
|
the
air. |
The boy felt
ashamed of
himself since he
didn’t like to
work at all.
He then thought
for a while and
decided to go
back home. He
found his mother
working
constantly in
the kitchen to
make lunch for
his family.
Roger came in,
without saying
anything. He got
the vacuum
cleaner and
started to clean
the house.
