Text for reading

9. Simon is invited to be a fisher of men - Once when Jesus at the Sea of Galilee, saw two boats moored on the beach, while Simon and his companions were washing their nets. Going into the boat of Simon, Jesus asked him to put out a little of the land and we sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. After the sermon, he said to Simon, "Put out into the sea, and cast nets for fish." Simon explained to him that toiled all the night, they had caught nothing, but still launched the network, collecting a large amount of fish, so large that almost two boats were sinking. Amazed by what he saw, Simon Peter fell at Jesus' feet, saying, "Lord, Depart from me, I am a sinful man," but Jesus said, "Fear not, henceforth thou shalt catch men ". And they pulled their boats ashore, Simon and his friends James and John, sons of Zebedee, who had participated in the miraculous catch, left everything and followed him. (Luke 5:1 and 5:11.)

10. Jesus heals the paralytic who went through the roof - Jesus was in those cities where a man full of leprosy, seeing him, fell on his face and begged him: "Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean." The Messiah, extending his hand and touched him, saying, "I will be clean." And immediately the leprosy departed from him. Jesus said to him that nobody told you, but that would show up to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses had given, that they might bear witness. With these cures his fame is spreading further and many people gathered to hear him and for him to be cured of their diseases. There was then that he was teaching in the presence of the Pharisees and the lawyers, who had come from every village of Galilee, Judea and Jerusalem, when brought to him a paralytic. As the crowd prevented access by the man's door, his friends climbed to the roof, and removing some tiles, the paralytic down with his bed, to the place where Jesus was. The Master, seeing their faith, said to him: "Man, thy sins are forgiven." The scribes and the Pharisees began to reason then, saying he railed, because only God can forgive sins. Jesus knew their thoughts, said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? Which is easier? say, Thy sins are forgiven, or to say, Arise, and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins (he said to the paralytic), I say unto thee, Arise, take up thy bed, and go home." The lame man stood up and took the bed where he lay, and went home, glorifying God, and they were all amazed and glorified God, saying: "Today we saw the signs. (Luke 5:12 to 5:26.)

11. The healthy do not need a doctor, but yes, the sick - in Levi's house, where it offered Jesus a great feast, the scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying: "Why do you eat and drink with publicans and sinners?"Jesus answered and said," need not a physician who are healthy, but rather those who are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but, yes, sinners, to repentance." They then offered him another question: "Why do the disciples of John fast often and make prayers, and also the Pharisees, but yours eat and drink?" Jesus answered them: "Can ye make the children of the marriage fast, while the bridegroom is with them? The days will come, however, that the bridegroom is taken away, and then fast in those days. " (Luke 5:27 to 5:35.)

12. The twelve disciples or apostles of the Lord - Was Saturday, when the Pharisees saw that Jesus' disciples drew spikes along the way and, after rubbing them with your hands, ate. "Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on Saturdays?" They inquired. Jesus replied: "Have you never read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him? As he entered the house of God, and took the showbread, and ate, and gave also to those who were with him, which is not lawful to eat, except the priests alone? "That said, asserted that the Son of Man is Lord until Saturday. After this fact, it happened the other, similar, on the Sabbath and inside the synagogue. Jesus was teaching there when a man entered his right hand was withered. While the scribes and the Pharisees observe, Jesus said to the man: "Arise, and stands in the middle." The man was standing. So Jesus, turning to the scribes and Pharisees said to them: "One thing you have to ask: Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or harm? save life or to kill? "And before that reply, said the man," Stretch out your hand." He answered, and his hand was restored whole as the other. The scribes and Pharisees were filled with rage and about what they do to Jesus, who, days later, ascended the mountain to pray, spending the night in prayer. When it was day he called unto him his disciples and chose from them twelve, whom also he named apostles: Simon, whom he also named Peter, and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, Matthew and Thomas, James son of Alpheus and Simon called the Zealot, Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor. (Luke 6:1 to 6:16.)

Answers to questions

1. To those who thought he was the Christ, who gave response John son of Zechariah?

John answered them saying, I indeed baptize you with water, but here comes one that is more powerful than me, which I am not worthy to untie the strap of the sandals, and this will baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire. He has the shovel in his hand, and wipes your threshing floor and gather the wheat into his barn and burning up the chaff with fire unquenchable. (Luke 3:15 to 3:17.)

2. Which of the sons of Noah descended Joseph, father of Jesus?

He was descended from Shem, son of Noah is that this name came the word Semite. (Luke 3:23 to 3:38.)

3. That city, the followers of the law of Moses, angry with Jesus, the expelled, leading him to the brow of a hill from there for the rush?

It was in Nazareth, where he created, it happened. The facts were thus described by Luke, Jesus went on the Sabbath, according to their custom in the synagogue and stood up to read. He was given the book of Isaiah. When he opened the book, he found the place where it was written: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach to the poor. He sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, restore sight to the blind, to set at liberty the oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord. Then, closing the book and making it to the minister, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him, and he then began to tell them, 'Today this scripture is fulfilled in your ears. Everyone marveled at the gracious words that came from his mouth and said, Is not this Joseph's son? The Master then said: No doubt I will say this proverb: Physician, heal thyself, do also here in thy country all we have heard done in Capernaum. And said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his homeland. Verily I say that many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah when the sky was shut for three years and six months, so that in all the earth great famine, and none of them was Elias sent but to Sarepta of Sidon , a widow woman. And many lepers were in Israel at the time of the prophet Elisha, and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian. At that moment, everyone in the synagogue, hearing these things, were filled with wrath, and rose up, threw him out of town, and led him unto the brow of the hill on which their city was built, so the rush away. But Jesus passed through them, he withdrew. (Luke 4:14 to 4:30.)

4. As called the publican who offered Jesus a great feast in his house?

The publican's name was Levi. This gave him a great feast in his house, where there was a crowd of collectors and others who were with them at the table. The scribes and Pharisees saw it, they murmured against his disciples, saying, why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners? Jesus answered and said unto them, need not physicians who are healthy, but rather those who are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but, but sinners to repentance. (Luke 5:27 to 5:32.)

5. What Jesus wanted to say with this sentence: No one puts new wine into old bottles?

Before saying such words, Jesus had said: "No one puts a piece of new clothing to sew on an old garment, for break and the new patch do not match the old. Then he said: No one puts new wine into old bottles, because the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled and the skins will be ruined, but new wine must be poured into new wineskins, and both are preserved. And no one after drinking old wine desires new, for he says: The old is better. Exegetes interpret these words as the inability to adapt to the Good News to the old doctrines Israelis and thus as an affirmation that the new doctrine should round up men freed from prejudice and dogma. However, last sentence noted by Lucas, who tried the wine (the Israeli doctrine) does not want to know the new (the Gospel), judge because whenever the former is better. C. Torres Pastorino, in his book 'Wisdom of the gospel, "commenting on the teaching, says that these words indicate that it is necessary that the creature becomes a new man, freeing himself from prejudice and dogma, with a mind free of theories enslaving and will then receive the new wine, or make their union with Christ and his teachings. (Luke 5:36 to 5:39.)
