Text for reading

14. Many disciples, thinking hard the discourse of the Master, departs - The sermon that Jesus claimed to be "the bread of life" was said by the Master at the synagogue in Capernaum, but many of his disciples found this a hard saying. Knowing this, Jesus said to them: "Does this offend you? That would be because if you saw the Son of Man ascends to where he was? It is the spirit that quickens, the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you are spirit and life. But some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who it was who had to deliver. Then he warned: "Therefore I said that no one can come to me unless my Father will not be granted." Since then many of his disciples went back and walked no more with him. Then Jesus asked the Twelve: "Will ye also go away?" Simon Peter answered him: "Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and know that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God." (John 6:59 to 6:71.)

15. Jesus keeps walking by Judea because the Jews want to kill him - After these things Jesus walked in Galilee and I would not walk in Judea because the Jews sought to kill him. How close was the Feast of Tabernacles the Jews celebrated, his brothers told him: "Get out, and go into Judea, that thy disciples also may see the works you do. Because there is none that seeketh to be known to do anything in secret. If you do these things, shew thyself to the world. " Jesus replied: "It is still not reached my time, but your time is always ready. The world cannot hate you, but it bothers me to me, because I testify that the works thereof are evil. Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up to this feast, because my time has not been fulfilled. "The Master was then in Galilee and was only the party, in secret, after his companions departed. Then the Jews sought him at the party and asked, "Where is he?" And there was much murmuring among the people about him. Some said, He is good. Others said: He is misleading people. But nobody spoke so openly for fear of the Jews. (John 7:1 to 7:13.)

16. Jesus repeats have been sent by the Father, whom he knows very well - Having ascended to the temple, Jesus taught that there were, and as he knew that the Pharisees wanted to kill him, asked: "Did not Moses give the law? and none of you observe the law. Why seek to kill me? "Then he said:" I did one work and ye all marvel. Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision, the sabbath day circumcise a man. If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses is not broken, you indignation against me, because on Saturday all healed a man?" "Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteously." At this point some of the men of Jerusalem asked, "Is not this what you seek to kill? Lo, talking openly and anything you say. Perhaps the rulers know that this is the Christ? "The Lord however, without caring about anything, crying in the temple:" You know me and know where I am, and I came not of myself but him who sent me is true, whom ye know not. But I know him, because I am from him and he sent me." (John 7:20 to 7:29.)

17. The Master says that whoever believes in him shall never thirst - The Pharisees and priests sought to arrest Jesus, but no one laid hands on him, because he had not yet reached the time. Many, however, believed him and asked, "When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?" The Pharisees and the chief priests did not like hearing those things and, therefore, sent officers to the fouling. I told them, "Jesus," Yet a little while I am with you, and go to him that sent me. Ye shall seek me, and not find me: and where I am, you cannot come." The Jews did not understand these words and asked each other: "Where he will not find him? Is probably going to the Greeks? And that word is this: look unto me and not find me? Where I am ye cannot go? "On the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood up and cried, saying," If anyone thirsts, come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture said, streams of water run in her womb." (John 7:30 to 7:39.)

18. Never man spoke like Jesus - Jesus' words were accepted by some, rejected by others, being born, therefore, dissent among the people because of it. However, while some wanted to arrest him, no one ever has. Such servers going to the chief priests and Pharisees asked them, 'Why not bring him? "The officers answered," Never man spoke like this man." The Pharisees retorted: "Are ye also deceived? Believed in it or perhaps some of the leading Pharisees? "Nicodemus, who was one of them (the same night out talking to Jesus), said to them:" Doth our law judge a man before it hear him, and know that do? "And they said:" Art thou also of Galilee? Search and look, which came from Galilee no prophet." Everyone went to his house. (John 7:43 to 7:53.)

Answers to questions

1. What, according to Jesus, the meaning of these words: "I am the bread of life"?

Before her, the Master said: "He that believeth on me hath everlasting life." Then: "I am the bread of life." Here's the explanation given by Jesus: "Your fathers ate manna in the desert and died. This is the bread that comes down from heaven, that which eats not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread will live forever: and the bread that I give is my flesh, I will give for the life of the world." (John 6:47 to 6:58.)

2. When Jesus taught in the temple, the Jews marveled, saying, "How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?" What answer did Jesus give them?

Jesus said, "My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If someone wants to do his will, know of the doctrine whether it be of God or whether I speak of myself. Who speaks of himself seeks his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. " (John 7:14 to 7:19.)

3. Why does the fact that Jesus lived in Galilee contributed to what many do not consider the promised Messiah?

There were two reasons. The first: the Scriptures say that Christ would come the seed of David and be born in Bethlehem, which was in Judea. The second reason is that never appeared in Galilee a prophet. (John 7:40 to 7:43. See also 7:50 to 7:53)

4. Jesus taught the Pharisees that brought him a woman caught in adultery?

After putting it in the middle of the crowd, the Pharisees said to him: "Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act, committing adultery. And in the law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Thou, you say? "This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him, but Jesus stooped down, wrote with his finger on the ground. After some time they continued asking him, Jesus said to them: "He who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone you." When they heard this, the Pharisees went out one by one, starting with the oldest and last, leaving only Jesus and the woman. (John 8:1 to 8:11.)

5. In the episode of the adulterous woman, Jesus made it important recommendation. Who told the Master?

Once the Pharisees went out, straightening up, Jesus said to the woman: "Woman, where are your accusers? No one condemned you? "She replied:" No, sir." Then said the Master: "Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more." (John 8:10 and 8:11.)
