Text for reading

33. The Lord promises the coming of another Comforter - After promising to pray to the Father to send another Comforter to the world, to stay with us forever, Jesus warned, "Do not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more, but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live. On that day know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. He who has My commandments and keeps them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him. " I told him Judas (Thaddeus, not Iscariot), "Lord, where is it that thou wilt manifest to us, and not to the world?" Jesus replied: "If anyone loves me will keep my word and my Father love him, and come unto him and make our abode with him. Who loves me not keepeth not my words, and the word which ye hear is not mine but the Father who sent me." (John 14:16  to 14: 24.)

34. It is for the Comforter to teach all things and remember what Christ said - referring to the second time the Comforter whom the Father will send in his name, Jesus said that the Comforter would teach us all new things and make us remember all that He said. He added: "I leave you peace, my peace I give unto you not give to you as the world gives. Not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. You heard that I said I'm going, and I come to you. If you loved me, ye would rejoice to have said: I go to the Father because the Father is greater than me. I told you now before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe. I will not talk much with you, because you approach the prince of this world, and nothing in me but it is for the world to know that I love the Father and do as the Father sent me. Arise, let us go hence." (John 14:25 to 14:31.)

35. Jesus tells the parable of the vine - Following Jesus narrated them this parable: "I am the true vine and my Father is the gardener. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and cleans every branch that bears fruit, that bear more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken. Abide in me, and I in you, as stick itself cannot bear fruit, if not in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: he that is in me and I in him, bears much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If someone is not me, he is cast forth as a branch and withers; and gather them and cast into the fire and burn. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit, so shall ye be my disciples. " The Master then concluded: "As the Father has loved me, I have loved you: abide in my love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love I have spoken unto you, that My joy may remain in you, and your joy may be full. My command is this: That ye love one another as I have loved you." (John 15:1 and 15:12.)

36. The Counselor shall testify of me, saith the Lord - After explaining to them that they had chosen him, but he, yes, the chosen, that produce fruits and these fruits remain, Jesus asserted, "This I command you, that ye love one other. If the world hates you, know that, first of you, I hated myself. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I chose you in the world, so does the world hate you. Remember the word that I said unto the servant is not greater than yourself. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they kept my word, keep yours also. But all this you will make because of my name, because they know not him that sent me. If I had not come, neither had spoken to them, not had sin: but now have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me hates my Father also If I had not done among them the works which none other man did not had sin: but now, have seen them and I hated myself and my Father but it is for fulfill what is written in their law, They hated me without cause." "But when the Comforter is come, whom I from the Father will send unto you, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me. And you also testify, because you have been with me since the beginning." (John 15:16 to 15:27.)

37. The Counselor will convince the world, said Jesus - The Master made it clear to them saying such things to the apostles did not lose faith, because they would be expelled from the synagogues and kill them if anyone would judge to be doing a service to God, why have not known the Father or the Son. It was fitting, because he was, because if not, the Comforter will not be shipped to us. "And when he comes - Jesus said - will convince the world of sin and righteousness and judgment. Of sin, because they believe in me; justice, because I go unto my Father, and ye see me no more, and the court, because the prince of this world is judged." (John 16:1 to 16:11.)

38. In the world you have tribulation, he assured the Master - After specifying the various features of the promised Comforter, Jesus reiterated that a little more, and they never see him again, as it would go to the Father like the disciples did not understand exactly what he said, because they spoke of his death followed by resurrection on the third day, Jesus said that first they would weep and lament, but this sadness is turned to joy, how is the woman who suffers the pain of childbirth and then no one can remember his grief when contemplating the little boy was born. Given these explanations, Jesus taught: "In truth, I tell you whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give it to you. Till now have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and receive, that your joy may be full. He said this to you in parables, arrives, however, the time that you no longer speak in parables, but I will speak openly about the Father. " "I came from the Father and came into the world: again I leave the world and go to the Father" At these words, the disciples said to him: "Behold now speak openly, and not say any parable. Now we know that you know everything and should not you mister that one question you. Therefore we believe came from God. " The Master said to them: "Do you believe now?" And added: "Here comes the hour is now come, that ye shall be scattered, each to his part and leave me alone, but I am not alone because the Father with me. I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace in the world you have tribulation, but take heart I have overcome the world." (John 16:16 to 16:33.)

Answers to questions

1. Philip asked Jesus to show them the Father: it was enough for them. What lessons then the Lord left them?

Jesus said to him: Have I been so long with you, and not have known me, Philip? Whoever sees me sees the Father and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say do not speak for myself but the Father who is in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me: or else believe me, at least, because of their works. Actually, in truth I tell you that whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and do greater things than these, because I go unto my Father And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (John 14:8 to 14:14.)

2. After the answer to Philip, Jesus made a promise. In what terms did he?

If you love me, keep my commandments. I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever: the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him: but ye know Him because He abides with you and be in you. But the Comforter, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said. (John 14:15 to 14:17. See also: 14:26)

3. After reiterating the new commandment which he had left them, Jesus told his disciples that they no longer call them servants. As the Lord then went on to call them?

The new command is this: That ye love one another as I have loved you. Then Jesus said unto them, Have ye not call you servants, because a servant does not know what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father I have made known. (John 15:12 to 15:15.)

4. Jesus referred to three times the promised Comforter, giving it the third time a special mission. What mission is it?

He said that when the Comforter is come, that from the Father he would send us, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, testify about it, Jesus. (John 15:26 and 15:27.)

5. The fourth time they reported the Comforter, Jesus stated several of their characteristics. He then said about the Spirit of Truth?

Beyond what was mentioned in answer 2 above, Jesus said more than the Comforter will convince the world of sin, righteousness and justice; will guide us into all truth, he will not speak of himself but will say whatever you have ear, and tell us what is to come. (John 16:7 to 16:15.)
