What happened to the splendor of ancient Greece?

The
economic and social crisis that is shaking Greece has led many people to think: where are the civilizations that marked their names in the history of this world, such as those that flourished in Egypt and in Greece itself?

The subject is treated in this same issue in one of the issues that comprise the study of The Spirits' Book, published weekly in our magazine.

Many people,
after reaching a determined evolutionary stage, relapsed into barbarism and some of them simply disappeared or lost their force.

Assyrians
, Babylonians, Egyptians, Rome, Sparta and Athens ... Where did the spirits go that made these people famous?

The
explanation given by the Spiritism - that the reader can check in from 786 to 788 issues of The Spirits' Book - is objective and very curious.

When a house
threatens to fall - said the immortals we sent to demolish it and build a more solid and more comfortable one.

It happens that,
while the new house is not ready, there is disorder and confusion, common fact that we observe in construction of reform.

Furthermore, similar expression was used once by Emmanuel to reference the globe in which we live: "The Earth is a house under renovation."

According to the
spiritism doctrine, Spirits do not manifest themselves indefinitely in the same region or a country. They embody in different places, because this requires the evolutionary process, allowing thus also become extinct these childish rivalries inherent to nationality.

Those who
, when incarnated, were the people who disappeared or degenerated, are not those who were at the time of their splendor. They are reincarnated in other countries, or perhaps on other planets, while other spirits, less advanced, took the place had been vacant and that, too, in turn, they will have left one day.

People are
, therefore, collective individualities that, as individuals pass from infancy, by the age of maturity and decrepitude. Those who only give importance to the life of the body, those whose greatness is based solely on force and land area, are born, grow and die, because the strength of a people exhausted, like a man.

Those, whose
selfish laws impede the progress of enlightenment and love, die, because the light kills darkness and charity kills selfishness. However, for peoples and as for people, there is the life of the soul, being sure that people, whose laws are in harmony with the eternal laws of the Creator, will live and serve as a beacon to other nations.

With regard
to Athens and Sparta, Chico Xavier sent a timely Emmanuel information according to which important personalities of the two famous cities were in the 20th century, reincarnated in two powerful nations of Europe that had a preponderant role, but on opposite sides in conflict that became known as World War II, of sad memory.
