Trust

Isabella, a lively and naughty girl, was always doing something wrong and getting scolded by her parents.

As her father was at home less because of work, he hardly reprehended her, but when he did, he would get angry and speak firmly:

- Never do that again, young lady!

Fearful, Isabella cowered, promising never to do anything wrong again. And so, she thought her father did not love her.

Father's Day was approaching and there would be a big party at school and all children were euphoric.

There would be an artistic presentation with songs and dances, and even a play. The mothers would make cakes, sandwiches and refreshments. At the end, each parent would receive a gift made by their own child.

In advance, the students began to decorate the hall with beautiful ribbons and colourful flowers.

Isabella was really excited. She loved her father very much and wanted to show her love for him at the party. At home, three days before the event, she said:

- Daddy, the school dance is on Sunday. You are coming, right?

- Yes, I am.

At that moment, her father took his hand to his head, remembering something, looked at her mother with a worried expression and said:

- Honey, tomorrow I'll have to travel.

Upon hearing the news, the girl's eyes widened, surprised and disappointed:

- Dad! You mean you're not going to the party?

- Of course I am, dear!

- And what if you cannot arrive on time? Why do you have to travel tomorrow? ...

The father explained that he had urgent business to conduct.

- I cannot skip this one. But I promise you I will be here for the party.

That night, Isabella could not sleep.  A thousand thoughts went through her head: "My father does not like me. If he loved me and cared about me, he would not travel. Does he not know how important this party is to me? "

The next morning, the father said goodbye, hugging his daughter with love:

- Isabella, I promise I'll be back on Sunday.

Placing his bag in the car, he left.

Isabella spent the day rehearsing the play and helping to prepare the room. When they were done, it was beautiful.

She came back home tired and hungry. She had diner
and went to bed.

In the early morning the phone rang. It was someone telling them that her father had suffered an accident. The mother was shaky and worried, trying to get news of her husband. Later, she gently told her daughter:

- Isabella, your father had a small accident and the car has broken down, but it's OK now. Soon he'll be here with us.

- My father is not coming, mom. He is not coming. I'm sure! - said the girl as she started to cry, terrified.

The mother embraced her with affection, reassuring her:

- Of course he is, my dear. Trust in God, who is also a Father. Let's pray and I'm sure the Lord will answer our requests.

- I'm not going to the party, mom.

- Why not, dear? It was you who most helped prepare the party! And who will play your role?

- I do not know nor care.

The mother thought for a moment and considered:

- Isabella, you are demonstrating you do not trust your father nor God, my daughter. And also that you have no respect for the work of the others. Without you, your colleagues may not present the play!

The girl was silent, thoughtful. Her mother was right. She should trust more in God and in her father who had always done everything for her, who had never disappointed her. Elevating her thoughts, she prayed much, beseeching God to protect her father, that nothing bad happened to him and that he returned home safe.

However, the hours passed and her father had not arrived.

At the appointed hour, with a heavy heart, they left for the party. The shows began and the acts were coming one after the other. The last one was the play.

When the curtains opened, Isabella glanced at the audience, hoping to see her father. But in vain. He had not arrived. Focused, at that moment she only thought of the role she was playing.

In the last scene, Isabella would recite a text addressed to the parents. She turned to face the audience.

Then, surprised and relieved, she saw her father among the people. With a bandage

on his head but smiling.
In tears, Isabella said loudly:

- Daddy, you are very important in our lives. We love you and trust you! HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Isabella, with a gift in hand, got off the stage and ran to her father.

- I thought you were not coming, dad.

- Thank God, I'm here. I would never let you down, honey.

Opening his arms, they embraced with infinite love, while she thanked God for having him back.
