Is it possible to talk to our beloved dead?
One of the most frequently questions asked received by our magazine concern the possibility that many people want, to get a message from a family member recently disembodied at a spiritual centre.
Does this possibility exist? Is it concrete? Or does it depend on any condition?
It is very difficult to explain to someone not accustomed to the spiritual doctrine what occurs in these cases. If dead can communicate, as Spiritism teaches why not our beloved ones?
In some situations, certainly in most of them, what moves people is the desire to contact the brother or departed friend and know how he/she is, how he/she lives, if he/she is happy or not. But there are cases where the reason is simply curiosity, the search for novelty, and few understand why spirits do not take the opportunity to show the world that no one dies and that life really goes beyond the grave.
The desire of those who are driven by the feeling of love is understandable and to be deducted from the letters we’ve received, it is much more common than we think.
We have, in such cases, told to people who have been writing to us that we can establish contact with our dead ones, regardless of the help of mediums, through prayer and in the sphere of sleep, for those who love us and continue to love us, whether or not incarnate.
Regarding to direct contact through a medium, it is always good to remember what Chico Xavier, addressing the issue, said timely: "The phone rings from there to here", i.e. the disembodied seek for us when they can and when there are strong reasons for this.
However, there are certain necessary conditions to make possible the communication with the spirits.
According to what we have learned in spiritual doctrine, it is necessary for a spirit to communicate, beyond God's permission or its representatives: 1st, which suits him to do so; 2nd, which his position or his occupations let him to do it; 3rd, find an appropriate tool of his nature in the medium.
Missing one of the conditions mentioned, mediumistic communications are not feasible, a fact that many people have difficulty to understand.
With Léon Denis, one of the greatest figures of spiritist letters happened something similar. Denis wanted to get a statement from his mother, but that never occurred in the spirit group that he was the leader. One day, traveling through the French countryside, the contact was possible and it came, after all, to the son the expected message.
Why did not it happen before? It is that, explained the mother, there was not in the group that he ran a spiritist medium who tuning in with her.
