Planting Flowers
|
Eight year-old
Daniel was a
determined boy
in everything he
did. Whenever he
wanted something,
he would strive
to get it.
One day he saw a
beautiful vase
of flowers in a
neighbour's
house and wished
he had one just
like that to
give to his
mother, who was
very fond of
flowers. So, he
knocked on the
neighbour's door
and when she
answered, asked
her for a sprig
of the flowers
to plant in his
home.
The neighbour,
smiley and kind,
went to the
garden, took a
small seedling
and gave it to
Daniel, who
thanked her and
went home, happy.
When he got home,
the boy wanted
to plant the
seedling but he
did not have a
vase. So, he
decided to plant
it in the garden.
Thus, as he had
seen his mother
do he took a
small shovel,
dug a hole and
put the seedling
in it. Then he
watered the
place and smiled
satisfied, full
of himself:
- I did it all
by myself!
From that day on,
Daniel always
examined the
plant to see if
it was producing
flowers. But for
nought!
|
|
There
were not even
new shoots!... |
|
One day,
discouraged, he
entered the
kitchen and his
mother wanted to
know the reason
why his little
face looked so
sad. And Daniel
muttered:
- Mom, I planted
a flower
seedling, but so
far not even a
new leaf showed
up! I wonder why?
- Have you
forgotten to
water it? - she
asked.
- No, Mommy! I
water it every
day!
- Is it getting
enough sun light?
Plants also
require heat,
darling.
- It is in the
garden and is
getting as much
sun as your
plants, Mom!
- So, Daniel,
envelop your
little plant in
feelings of
peace, love, and
energy. Maybe it
is too weak.
- As if I were
saying a prayer,
mom? - asked the
boy, amazed.
- Yes, honey.
Jesus said that
with faith we
can accomplish
all we wish.
The boy went to
the garden,
crouched beside
the little plant
and looked
intently at it.
Indeed, it
seemed feeble
and without
strength to grow.
So full of
affection,
Daniel began
talking to it,
telling it that
he loved it very
much and he
wanted to see it
strong and
beautiful, full
of flowers! He
ended by stating:
- You will be
able to sprout
and grow. You
will be
beautiful and
give many
flowers to
brighten our
garden, and all
who pass by will
be delighted to
see you! God our
Father, who
created
everything that
exists, loves
plants, because
they are part of
Nature!
From that day on,
whenever he
passed through
the garden,
Daniel repeated
those kind words
and talked to
it, gently
stroking its
fragile leaves.
One morning as
he was leaving
to go to school,
Daniel saw that
beautiful
blossoms were
sprouting here
and there in the
fragile plant.
Happy, he said:
-
Congratulations!
Keep up the good
job, my little
flower! Soon you
will be big and
beautiful!
A few days later,
the fragile
plant was full
of beautiful and
small branches
growing out of
its your body,
towards the sky,
as if seeking
the sun.
|
Some time later,
now strong,
beautiful and
full of leaves,
it dawned
covered with
beautiful
flowers that
opened up
gracing the
garden.
Content, Daniel
went to get his
mother to see
the miracle that
had happened.
Seeing the plant
now so beautiful
and lush, the
mother said:
- Yes, dear,
your faith, your
care and nature's
|
action,
performed a real
miracle.
Congratulations!
You did take
good care of it. |
Satisfied,
Daniel smiled:
- I think my
dedication
helped a lot,
Mom. I cared for
it with love.
But our Father,
certainly made
the most of the
work!
The mother
looked at her
son, still so
small but so
determined, and
embraced him:
- Daniel, that
way you will get
everything you
want in life,
dear. When we
have faith and
work to
accomplish what
we want, nothing
is impossible!
Daniel grew up
and became a man.
But facing the
difficulties
that arose in
his life, he
always
remembered the
small plant and
was filled with
energy and faith
to continue on
the path he had
chosen.
Now, he was a
renowned
engineer and
sometimes
because of work,
he had to move
to other cities;
however,
anywhere he
might be, he
always had a
|
|
seedling of his
beautiful plant,
which would
generate another
vase, reminding
him that we
should never
give up, we must
always move
forward to achieve what we
want. |
