France in mourning
It came to an end on the last 9th, with the death of terrorists, the hunt that the police of France undertook in order to locate and arrest those responsible for the perpetrated attack on January 7th in Paris, against the newspaper Charlie Hebdo.
For the reader who could not keep the facts, here is a brief summary.
On Wednesday 7th around 11:30 am, two men armed with AK-47 rifles in military uniforms, entered the newspaper office and killed 11 people - journalists, cartoonists and other members of the journal's editorial team.
On the trail, they stopped the car on the Boulevard Richard Lenoir, got off from the vehicle and killed one policeman.
It started then the action of the French police, which mobilized according to authorities, about 90,000 men, including police, military and guards.
On Thursday 8th, it was confirmed the identity of the suspects: the brothers Said and Chérif Kouachi, who would have links with the terrorist group Al Qaeda.
On Friday 9th, in Dammartin-in-Goële, 35 km from Paris, the suspects were rounded up in a graphic where they had taken refuge. Police raided the place and, after intense fighting criminals were killed.
Further, a member of Al Qaeda in Yemen claimed responsibility for the attack on Charlie Hebdo’s newspaper, citing the Associated Press that the action against the French periodical was in revenge for the honour of the Prophet Muhammad, who had been lampooned in the newspaper.
The reader does not be surprised what was alleged: Muhammad was lampooned, ie, a satire caused the death of 12 people! - And this in the name of Allah, as God is called by Muslims.
Although the hunt ended, it is clear that problems remain. There are as we know a large number of fanatics and it will be no surprise if similar episodes recur.
What to do?
What solution to adopt against terrorism and extremism?
Because it is within the adherents of Islam that it has emerged the most lurid terrorist attacks, there is who understands the need for Islam to modernize itself and search, with decided actions by its moderate leaders, to neutralize radicals who take shelter in the Koran to promote massacres, which, whatever the reason, it will always be unjustifiable. The actions promoted by Al Qaeda and the currently acts of aggression carried out by supporters of so-called Islamic State, which subjects much of Iraq and Syria population, are proof of that.
If last week in this very space, we called the reader's attention to the difficulties that the earth - "a planet in shadow" - faces, the events of Paris showed that the difficulties are even greater and more serious, because the attack French newspaper moved the whole world and filled France with grief and tears, the country that has given us more than two centuries the motto Liberty, Equality and Fraternity.
Where we went wrong?
That's the question we should all ask and look for answer.
How to fix this error?
That is the big question.
Will someone have the answer?
