Julio was
walking down the
streets of the
town and
thinking:
— What will I
buy for daddy as
a gift?
Father’s Day was
coming and he
wanted to give
his father a
present that
came from his
own sources. He
managed to save
five pounds from
his pocket money
and told his
mom:
— Mom! Can I
choose daddy’s
gift? I want to
do it on my
own!
His mom thought
about it for a
while and
realised this
will be good for
her son. He will
practice
responsibility,
learn to use
free-will since
he will need to
decide what to
buy with the
amount he had.
Besides, if he
went on his own
he would
practice
independency
becoming more
confident and
assured.
His mom then
decided:
— Ok, Julio, you
can go but wait
a moment. I will
get some money
for you.
— No, it is ok
mom. I have
money! I saved
it from my
pocket money —
he said smiling
and showed her a
five pounds
note.
She then smiled
and said:
— Fine, son.
Just be careful
when crossing
the streets and
with this money.
God bless you!
He then got
ready, put the
note on his
pocket and said
good-bye to his
mom. He searched
through many
stores. There
were so many
options... He
looked at shirts
and trousers,
but they were
expensive. A
pair of shoes?
No way! He did
not have money
to buy them.
He then realised
he could maybe
buy a pair of
socks or a box
of chocolates?
His dad liked
music; what
about a CD then?
He had too many
choices and too
many prices
available. He
then looked at
the stores again
and thought...
He wanted to
give his dad
something he
could remember
him forever. He
loved daddy so
much! The
present should
be with his dad
throughout his
life! He decided
not to look for
food.
A tie or a pair
of socks will be
used for a while
but soon he
would not use
them anymore. If
he bought a CD,
maybe dad would
not like the
music.
He then passed
by a bookshop
and decided:
|
— A book! Why
didn’t I think
about this
before?
He then went
through the
books and found
the perfect one.
It was exactly
what he wanted,
and for the
price he wanted!
Five pounds! His
dad would love
it!
He paid for it,
asked it to be
wrapped up and
left the store
happily. On
Sunday at
Father’s Day,
Julio got up
early. He then
took the package and
|
ran to
hug his
dad. |
|
— Daddy,
congratulations
on your day! I
brought
something for
you. Look!
He gave the
package to his
dad feeling so
proud of
himself.
— Thank you, my
son. What is it?
— his dad said,
showing
curiosity.
He then opened
the package and
saw it was a
book.
— My son! It is
a very valuable
present. I loved
the idea!
— I was the one
who chose it,
dad. I wanted to
give you
something useful
for you at all

|
time and
that you
would
remember
me when
you
opened
it. |
He felt really
moved when he
saw it:
— Spot on, my
son! You could
not have chosen
better than
this. Thank
you!
He gave his dear
Julio a big hug
and then went to
show the book to
his wife.
— Look, dear. It
is The Gospel
According to
Spiritism!
His mom also
felt moved, and
hugged both of
them.
— I knew you
would like it,
dad. I heard you
saying one day
to mom this book
brings knowledge
to those who
read it and it
is suitable at
all times. In
happy or sad
moments, it
consoles,
cheers, gives
peace and hope
to the ones who
need it.
— That’s right
my son. You
remembered it
very well.
Jesus’ teachings
are in this
book, and we
should follow
them through our
existence.
His dad asked
them to pray
together to
thank God for
such a special
son he gave
them. He also
said the day was
just starting,
and it promised
to be happy and
full of
blessings.
