Armand was a
little boy who,
although he
received good
education at
home, he would
still do wrong.
|
He loved
fighting and
provoking
people. He
destroyed his
and his
colleagues’
toys. He enjoyed
bad jokes and
complained about
everything all
the time.
But when people
asked about his
religion he
would say:
— I am a
spiritist!
In fact, he goes
to spiritist
education
classes at the
spiritist centre
close to where
he lives.
Therefore, he
was very
misbehaved; he
would always
disturb the
classes
|
and his
colleagues. |
His mom was
really worried.
She tried
everything to
teach him, but
with no results.
One day she was
tired and
decided to ask
Jesus for help.
After thinking
for a long time,
she fell asleep.
On the following
morning she woke
up with a new
idea. She called
Armand and
asked:
— My son, I want
to make a fruit
salad. Can you
please go to the
garden and bring
me some oranges
from the banana
tree?
The boy felt
quite surprised
with his mom’s
question and
asked:
— Mom, bananas
does not grow in
orange trees!
— Oh! It’s true.
Please bring me
apples from an
orange tree.
The boy
complained, once
again:
— It’s not
possible, mom.
Orange trees can
not give us
apples. These
tress produce
oranges.
His mother then
said:
— Please bring
me some grapes
from the avocado
tree that is
located in the
back garden.
The boy was
quite taken
aback by his
mom’s comments.
He then said:
— Mom, avocado
tree can not
give us grapes;
only avocados!
The boy was
quite concerned
about his mom at
this point in
time.
His mother then
looked at him
quite carefully
and said:
— Why?
— Why is that?
Because each
tree can only
produce its own
fruit, mom! —
Armand answered.
— It’s true! You
are right! — his
mother said. —
Jesus taught us
that a good tree
does not produce
bad fruit; and a
bad tree can not
produce good
fruit. I think I
am a bad tree.
— Why is that,
mom?
— Here at home
we are
spiritists. How
come you insist
in doing bad
things if your
dad and me only
teach you
goodness,
respect and love
to other people?
Is this what we
are teaching
you?
Armand listened
to his mother
attentively and
realised she was
talking about
his behaviour.
He looked down,
feeling ashamed
of himself.
He then looked
up and said:
|
|
— You are right,
mom. I have been
behaving badly
lately.
I will
try to
make it
better.
You will
still
feel
proud of
me one
day! I
will be
a good
tree
that
will
give
good
fruit. |
His mother
hugged her son,
feeling
extremely happy
for being able
to reach his
heart. She then
thanked God for
the help
received.
