The purpose of creating an index on the spiritist works
It has been circulating on the World Wide Web a serious complaint that attaches to the Federative National Council the idea of setting, as suggested by the Brazilian Spiritist Federation, something similar to that Index smirch the history of the Roman Catholic Church.
For those who may not know, remember that index is the word for the catalog of books whose reading was forbidden by the Church.
The complaint, which seems to have no foundation, is based on news that the Brazilian Spiritist Federation (FEB) would be inclined, finally, to speak out about the freaks and follies that have been in Brazil, dumped in the form of spiritist books or how it allegedly offered for sale.
Clearly, we in the spiritist press could never support the institution of spiritist Index, because no one has the right to prevent people whatever they publish or read. Set up something like this it would be to re-edit in the middle spirit, one of the worst moments in the history of the Church.
On the other hand, we cannot criticize the purpose of FEB – or the federal state - to guide the spiritual movement of the content of the works that they understand that they are apart from the doctrine in the works of Kardec, Denis, Delanne, Emmanuel and André Luiz.
This initiative is not only a right, but also a duty which should have been completed long ago.
Indeed, nothing prevents the works mentioned are analyzed by experts appointed by the federal, putting themselves in such analysis of the FEB site available to the reading public. Thus, without curtailing the right of anyone, the institution would be fulfilling one of their roles as coordinator of the Brazilian Spiritist movement, contributing directly to the clarification of spiritists and improvement of spiritists works. Because publishers that publish them would know in advance that its products would be henceforth subjected to the scrutiny of others.
This issue also brings to light an old question concerning the role of the press spiritist, who can no longer omit and ignore the problems that affect the spiritual movement, as if everything was in our midst like a charm.
