The Baby Eagle
|
On one occasion,
an eagle went in
search of food.
She flew around
a lot, looking
for something
that could
satisfy the
hunger of her
babies, who were
hungry.
|
She sought ...
sought ...
sought ... until
she saw in the
distance a fat
and tasty
chicken.
The mother eagle
had no doubts.
Quickly, not to
lose her prey,
she went towards
the chicken who
scratched the
soil and, in a
flyby, held it
with her claws
and her beak.
The poor hen was
struggling,
trying to escape
the huge eagle,
cackling:
- Ma'am Eagle,
do not kill me!
I have chicks
waiting for me
in the nest.
Without my
presence, they
will starve
because
|
they are
still newborns
and very feeble.
Have mercy! ... |
And so the poor
hen asked the
eagle, who
compassionately,
remembering her
babies, let her
go.
- All right! All
right! … This
once, you are
free. But avoid
falling into my
clutches again,
because I will
not have mercy!
- Thank you!
Thank you, ma'am
Eagle! If you
need anything,
you can count on
me!
Proudly, the
eagle lifted
flight into the
sky, thinking,
- You wish! When
would I, a big
and beautiful
eagle, powerful
and respected by
all in the sky,
need the favours
of a lowly
chicken?
Returning to her
nest, the eagle
looked at her
babies who were
waiting for her
with their beaks
open, and
remembering the
chicken, she
acknowledged
that she had
done well to
help her. At
least, the
chicken's chicks
would not go
hungry.
A few days later,
when the little
eagles were a
bit smarter,
mother eagle
decided to take
them for the
first exercise
of flight.
The little ones
were euphoric!
They would learn
to fly through
the sky with
their Mom!
During training,
without noticing,
one moved away
from the others
and confused,
fell between
some trees.
Not knowing
where he was,
the baby eagle
kept crawling on
the ground,
chirping with
fear, calling
for his mother.
At this point,
the chicken,
that scratched
the soil nearby,
saw the little
eagle in trouble
and stopped,
asking:
- Hello! Where
is your mother?
The baby eagle,
who had never
seen a chicken,
replied afraid:
- I do not know!
Mom is with my
brothers. Trying
to fly, I fell
and now I don't
know what I'm
going to do! -
he whimpered,
terrified.
- Do not worry.
I'll stay with
you until your
mother appears.
She must be
looking for you
and should not
take long. Stay
calm. Are you
hungry?
- Yes, I'm
starving!
- Well then, eat!
Here are some
insects I found
to take to my
nest. But do not
worry. You can
eat at will.
Later on, I will
find more for my
chicks.
- They are
delicious! -
approved the
baby eagle after
he tasted them.
- You can eat
more, do not be
shy - said the
chicken,
generous.
At that moment,
they heard a
loud flapping of
wings. Suddenly,
the mother eagle
was there with
them, very angry,
and screamed:
|
- What do you
think you will
do with my baby,
chicken?
The chicken
looked at the
huge bird that
arrived and
opened her eyes
wide with fear.
Right then, the
baby eagle
turned to his
mother and
explained,
defending his
benefactress:
- Mama, I fell
trying to fly
and Ma'am
|
Chicken found me
and helped me.
She gave me the
food she was
taking to her
chicks and
stayed here
looking after
me! |
Embarrassed, the
eagle looked at
the chicken and
said:
- I am sorry. I
owe you a lot,
you took care of
my son,
protected and
fed him. Thank
you.
The chicken
shook her head
and replied:
- Do not thank
me, Ma'am Eagle.
I would do it
for any other
being. I think
we must help
each other
because, thus,
we will also be
helped.
The chicken
stopped clucking
for a moment,
looked at the
eagle and asked:
- Don't you
remember me? I'm
the chicken that
you helped one
day. I always
remember that
when I spoke to
you of my chicks,
you let me go
free. Today,
fortunately, I
could return the
favour you did
to me.
The eagle
embraced the
chicken, moved
by the memory,
for she had no
habit of helping
anyone, and they
became friends.
The proud eagle
recognized that
every good deed
reverts always
in favour of
those who
practice it,
even if those
who practised or
who received it
no longer
remember it.
The important
thing is that
the good
generated by the
good deed
remains forever
archived in our
spiritual files.
